REDCOURT School in Oxton achieved another triumph at the North of England schools athletics competition held at Robin Park Stadium.
Five pupils won their respective events to earn the right to represent the region at the national finals at the Bedford International Stadium on June 23.
Last year three Redcourt pupils represented the North of England in the national competition at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham with Joshua Solomon-Davies winning the Year 4 60 metres final in a record-breaking 9.00 seconds.
The latest event saw Redcourt come runners up to The Grange School, Northwich and winners in the Under 11 boys category.
The boys’ success was due largely to Joshua Solomon-Davies who won both 75 metres (10.19 seconds and a new North of England record) and the High Jump (1.23 metres) as well as Lewis Hardman in the Cricket Ball, throwing 41.26 metres. Both boys will represent the region in the national finals in these respective events.
Ieuan Kearney may well still qualify having come runner up in 600 metres and Long Jump.
Those competing were:
Year 5 75m - Joshua Solomon-Davies 1st in heat 1st in final ; Year 6 80m - Jonathan Nelson 1st in heat 1st in final; Year 4 600 m Erin Davies 1st; Year 5 Cricket Ball - Lewis Hardman 1st(41.26m); High Jump Year 5 - Joshua Solomon-Davies 1st (1.23m); Shot Year 6 Andrew Porter 1st(6.83m).
