OXTON Hockey Club mens first team finished a creditable fifth in the Northern Premier League after a tough season.
Oxton were in the running for promotion with five games to go but their run in gave them fixtures against the top three, unfortunately Oxton came second in these games putting an end to their hopes.
With the same squad being kept for next season and the returning Dave Given, Oxton will hope that they can go one step further next season.
The season had been a campaign of transition overall for the club following their relocation to Irby cricket club and Calday School becoming the new playing base but it has been a successful season with the club still running thirteen sides on a Saturday. Two of these sides - the mens fourths and sixths gained promotion from their league, the fourth team doing especially well, finishing as champions. The club are confident that their success can be continued next season. For information on the club and how to join visit www.oxtonhc.co.uk
