Former world heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon heads for Wirral pub

FORMER two-time world heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon will be providing a knockout talk in the Wirral on Friday night.

The ex-WBA and WBC title holder will be the guest of honour at the Chronicle Pub, Church Road, Bebington where Witherspoon will recount stories of his eventful life in and out of the ring.

A native of Philadelphia, ‘Terrible’ Tim won the WBC version of the heavyweight crown in 1984 when out-pointing Greg Page before losing the strap later that year to Pinklon Thomas.

Witherspoon claimed the WBA championship two years later following victory over Tony Tubbs before losing the belt that December to James Smith.
