FOUR schools on the Wirral are celebrating after taking part in the North West Schools Gymnastics Competition at Robin Park in Wigan.
Sophie Everson and Dan Edwards (Hilbre High) both won gold in the under-19s tumbling as well as gold in their mixed pair, becoming Northwest champions in three disciplines.
Matthew Mulholland (St Mary’s College) came second in the under-13s tumbling, with both Lauren Gallagher (St Albans Primary) and Adam Jones (Liscard Primary) finishing second in the under-11s tumbling.
All these gymnasts will now go forward to represent the North West Schools at the British Schools National Finals to be held at Fenton Manor, Stoke in May.
Ella Connor and Nicole McLaughlin won silver in the under-11s pairs just missing out on a place in the final with Isobel Simpson and Lauren Gallagher and Chloe Williams and Adam Jones finishing fourth in their under 11s pairs categories.
The group six team representing Liscard Primary came fourth, just missing out on a medal.
The gymnasts all train at Wallasey Gymnastics Club as part of the schools/clubs links and the club coaching staff are proud of their achievements and wish them well in the future.
