DAN Khedun's superb second half goal gave Neston South Wirral a 3-2 win at home to Liverpool University, despite a lacklustre display.
It looked like it would be a comfortable afternoon for the Parkgate men when Lawrence McNeight converted a penalty in the second minute, and Harry Bush made it 2-0 with less than five minutes on the clock. The Liverpool side had other ideas though, and after having a goal ruled out they pulled one back from a corner rebound. The pacy students always threatened on the break and it was no surprise when they equalised from the penalty spot.
Never at their best, Neston often put themselves under pressure with poor distribution, and at times found themselves pinned in their own half after the interval. However, they still had enough quality to carve out the better chances, but found the visiting keeper in good form. With Liverpool belying their lowly league status they looked as though they may sneak a shock result, but Khedun had other ideas, and he beat three players before blasting a reverse stick shot past the keeper, to keep Neston flying high in the table.
This Saturday, Neston make the short trip to take on Oxton.
