Neston South Wirral continued with their fine season

NESTON South Wirral continued their fine start to the season with wins in both the league and cup last weekend.

On Saturday, the Parkgate men entertained Bebington in the North West League, and got off to a flying start when young Tom McCurdy rifled in an early penalty corner. Dan Khedun's exocet made it two after ten minutes, and the visitors were shell shocked when Van Der Ouderraa waltzed through their defence to score a fine solo goal mid way through the half. With the sublime skills of Mark Donnelly creating havoc for the Bebington defence, another goal was inevitable, and Rob Cookson bundled home a fourth before the break for a rampant Neston.

Shortly after the interval, Bebington managed to pull one back, and they briefly threatened another before Aled Jarvis put the finishing touches to a superb Neston breakaway to make it 5-1.

On Sunday, Rolls Royce from Derbyshire were the visitors in the England Hockey Vase, and Neston struggled to break them down in a scrappy opening period. Eventually, Khedun put Neston ahead from a set piece, only for Joe White to level shortly before half time. Neston created more after the break, and McNeight's deft finish put them ahead before Khedun bagged his second to put the home side in the hat.
