WAVERTREE stayed clear at the top of the Bromborough Paints Merseyside & Southport Alliance table with an easy eight wickets success at Sutton.
Matt Nation played a key role with a 6-23 haul. Josh Birch scored 43.
The chasing pack faltered. Alder were held to a draw at Birkenhead St Mary’s for whom Shakeel Nawaz made 70. Best for Alder were Mohammed Masroor with 5-56 and Mark Brick who was undefeated on 81.
Whitefield lost by 125 runs at home to Caldy.
Grant Hughes with 46 and 4-30 helped Parkfield Liscard account for Huyton by 33 runs. Muhammed Zahin 4-26 and Joe Fagan 4-47 bowled well for the losers.
John Ecceshall struck an unbeaten 59 for Moorfield in a six wickets success over Haydock.
Anthony Hall with 6-47 and Geoff Thornton with 56 not out saw Southport Trinity home by nine wickets at Norley Hall whose best on the day was Chris Norvall with 44.
Prescot & Odyssey held on for a draw at Maritime, closing 62 runs adrift with their last pair together.
