NESTON South Wirral slumped to another defeat as they were crushed 7-1 at 2nd placed Bowdon.
With confidence low, Neston's young side were put to the sword by a talented Bowdon side including ex-Neston and Great Britain player Justin Pidcock.
The hosts dominated from the outset, and were 3-0 up by the interval. Jason Long grabbed a consolation in the second half, but Bowdon's fast incisive hockey was rewarded with four further strikes.
Second team skipper, Rich Lowry, was in good form in the Neston goal, but he had little chance with any of the goals, three of which came from another Neston old boy, Richard Midgeley.
Elsewhere the second team came from two behind to edge out Bowdon 3-2, whilst the sixth's clinched the league title with a 3-1 win over Oxton. Result of the weekend though, was the under fifteen's 5-4 win at Ludlow, which put them through to the National Plate semi-final.
This Saturday, the first team end their season with a home game against relegated Macclesfield. After a disappointing season, Neston will look to end on a high in their final game at the Recreation Centre, before they begin next season at a new state of the art facility at their Parkgate HQ.
