Wirral kart king Chris Taylor has 12 point lead ahead of crucial 2008 Formula Blue Championship

WIRRAL kart racing champion Chris Taylor goes into the next round of the Cheshire Kart Racing Club's 2008 Formula Blue Championship on September 14.

With a 12 point lead over his nearest challenger and with three rounds left, the 24-year-old 2007 Formula Blue champion races at the Hooton Park track, near Eastham, Wirral, once a month.

Taylor has been racing karts since he was eight-years-old, when in his first season he qualified for the British kart championship at the world famous Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.

He is currently racing in the UK for the Italian EKS kart manufacturer and has product-only support from the NGK Sparking Plug Co, as well as also the Ellesmere Port Castrol Oils Refinery.

Taylor’s race karts are prepared by his father, ex-racing car driver, Dave Taylor, through his Ellesmere Port based DT-Motorsport team.

Proud father Dave loves motor racing so much that, as a hobby, he looks after a number of other Wirral karters on the race weekends, including 12-year-old West Kirby junior racer, Scott Rixon, and 15-year-old Eve Mellor, from Birkenhead.

Racing takes place at the Hooton Park Circuit every second weekend of the month. Admission and parking is free and racing starts at 10am until approx 5pm, when the trophy presentation takes place, with classes for 8-12 yr.olds, 12-16yr olds and 16 plus adult classes.
