Olympic lead way at Dutch Championship

WIRRAL’S Olympic Taekwondo Centre have brought back a haul of medals from this year’s Dutch Open Windmills Championship.

Six out of the Prenton club’s eight competitors won medals, including two gold medallists, who were among the team, which formed part of the Liverpool Elite Group.

Sean Doyle and Paul Long each won gold in their respective categories, while Jessica O’Hanlon, Sophie Dickson and Ryan Hennesey each won silver and Aleisha Edwards earning bronze.

But these medals add to the already large tally won since Carl Evans took over as head coach at Olympic Taekwondo Centre in October 2006.

Since then, he has taken the club from strength-to-strength and continues to increase the medal tally having already achieved four medals in the British Nationals last November.

Carl said: “They all fought really well and I’m thrilled that so many of the team won medals this year. All their hard work over the past few months has certainly paid off.”

Olympic will be looking to recruit potential future competitors over the coming months. Those interested in joining the prestigious team should contact Carl via www.olympictaekwondo--centre.co.uk.

Carl added: “General training days are currently Tuesday and Friday, while children’s class start at 5pm and adult classes at 6.30pm. Elite Athletes also train Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, when not competing.”
