BEBINGTON High pupil Daniel Goulding won five medals when he represented Wirral at the North West Regional Athletic Championships for Students with Special Needs, which was held at Sports City in Manchester.
The nine-year-old won bronze for the 60m run, silver for the 100m run, bronze for the javelin ball, as well as gold and silver for the club throwing, resulting in an all-round tally of five winning medals for this determined athlete.
Diane Moore, of Bebington High Sports College, said: “This was a brilliant achievement for the Year 9 student and it is a credit to all the hard work and effort put in not only by Daniel.
“He has now qualified for the National Athletic Championships, which will be held over a full weekend in Blackpool during July.
“We will keep our fingers crossed for this next step and wish Daniel all the best for Blackpool and the opportunity that it might give him to represent the country at the 2012 Paralympics.”
