Rising star claims yet more gold

BEBINGTON’S rising athletics star Tony Carscadden recorded his second victory in as many competitions at the George Edwards Memorial Medal Meeting in Warrington on Monday.

The St Andrews School pupil, nine, ran a record time of 11.1secs in the 75-metres race to win gold – the first time anyone has broken the record in more than two years – before going on to win a silver medal in the 150-metres in 23secs.

Carscadden, who earlier this month won the 135m race at the Eddie Gallagher Memorial meet in Wavertree, only took up the sport last November when he joined Wirral Athletics Club.
