Macauley happy with side’s result

VAUXHALL Motors boss Carl Macauley declared himself pleased with his first pre-season outing after his ‘A’ team launched an attack at Colwyn Bay last Saturday.

Motors had to be content with a 2-2 draw, having twice led their Welsh hosts. They opened their account after just four minutes when promoted youth team player Andy Johnson set up co-striker Anthony Wright, who struck a sweet right foot shot into the top far corner.

Macauley then made a significant number of changes at the break, including three of the back four, as well as replacing the impressive Sean Lake in goal.

Unfortunately, the uncertainty at the start of the second half led to Bay equalizing. But on 61 minutes, an inch perfect cross from Tom Field was dispatched by the young Johnson.

The Welsh side leveled for a second time nine minutes from the end when hesitancy in the visitors rearguard allowed the hosts another goal they barely deserved.

This Saturday, Vauxhall entertain Chester City at Rivacre Park (3pm). Admission is just £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.

The following Tuesday, Carl Macauley’s side take back to the road, when they travel to Formby for their third friendly match, as they continue their preparations for the exciting looking Blue Square Conference North campaign.
