Taekwondo pupils make the grade and belt up

MEMBERS of Richard Saunders Schools of Taekwondo are celebrating after successfully passing their black belts in the Korean martial art of Taekwondo.

The students took their grading in front of five 7th Degree Taekwondo Master at the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain headquarters in Bristol. The successful 1st degree black belts went to Christopher Chapman, 11, Thomas Wellings, 12, Ben Wellings, nine, Mike Unsworth, 12, Cameron Young, and John Jones, 13.

Meanwhile, David Sheppard, 48, was successful in passing his 3rd Degree Black. All the students had to perform martial art moves, free-sparring and a verbal exam, while 3rd Degree David also had to perform destruction techniques.

Thirty-nine-year-old Taekwondo student Brain Anderton picked up a bronze medal at a recent Rage Cage tournament in Manchester.

Wirral Taekwondo coach Richard Saunders, 5th Dan, said: “All of them did exceptionally well at and showed the examiners what they can do.”
