Vauxhall Motors 0, Gainsborough Trinity 1
VAUXHALL Motors rounded-off their home programme in the Nationwide Conference North with a disappointing defeat against Gainsborough Trinity at Rivacre Park.
Trinity, requiring a point to secure their status, were rewarded in the 65th minute when a defensive mistake gave them the chance they needed.
The result means the Motormen have gained more points on their travels this season than at Rivacre Park.
Motors complete their campaign with a trip to Nuneaton Borough on Saturday afternoon in what promises to be a memorable affair.
Not only is it Motors’ 500th league fixture since they joined the non-league pyramid in 1995 when they joined the North West Counties League, but it is also Borough’s last-ever match at their Manor Ground home before beginning life in a new stadium next season.
A large crowd is expected at the game, as Carl Macauley’s side look to maintain their fine away form despite a number of niggling injuries creeping back into the squad.
Meanwhile, there are still some places available for any under-15s sides who wish to enter the club’s Youth tournament, which takes place over the weekend of the June 9 and 10 at the Rivacre Road complex.
Any club interested should contact Linda Edmunds on 339-5447 as quickly as possible.
