Tranmere head to Algarve

TRANMERE Victoria women’s futsal team have been selected to take part in a prestige tournament in the Algarve at the end of April.

The Futsal Nations Cup 2007 for women, which is organised by the Portuguese FA, is taking place in the beach resort of Lagoa and is set to be one of the largest tournaments ever organised for women’s futsal (five-a-side football).

Competing in it are teams from Portugal, Spain, Japan, Germany and Brazil as well as England’s representatives, Tranmere.

Tranmere Victoria is one of England’s leading futsal clubs, having been playing the game at various levels for over a decade.

Team manager Becky Rooke said: “We are in no doubt that this will be the biggest challenge we have faced as a team so far. We are playing the Brazilian’s in our first game”
