CAMMELL Laird notched up their 10th away win of the season in fine style at second-placed Eastwood Town.
The Badges, beaten only once in the last 11 games, started brightly with a couple of chances.
Lairds were equal to the task and there were close calls for Jamie McGuire, Ian Cooke and Carl Clampitt.
But it was at the start of the second half that they struck with two quick goals.
Firstly, Cooke latched on to an in-swinging corner to slot home and then, two minutes later, Ronnie Morgan was on hand to double the advantage.
The Nottinghamshire hosts had no answer to Lairds’s fluent passing and confident defending, as they cruised home.
On a day that saw Lairds as the only team in the top five to win, the run-in for the play-offs is certain to go down to the wire. Chester City were due to visit Kirklands last night for the re-arranged semi-final clash in the Cheshire Senior Cup.
