She attends eight training sessions a week – three of which involve early morning starts at 5am – in order to build the requisite levels of technique, strength and stamina that will enable her to swim competitively.
Qualifying to swim for Scotland through her parents, Sarah is well aware of the high standards of swimming within the UK.
But with the continued and much-appreciated support of her school and parents, in tandem with excellent coaching and a superb work ethic, hopes are high that she will continue to achieve first class results at a national and international level.
Proud dad Dougie said: “She has had success at Cheshire and North West level.
“She has reached national finals before, but she has never won anything like a national swimming championship.
“It’s definitely something she wants to carry on doing and she is looking to get to the Commonwealth Games in three years time and then the Olympics in 2012.”
