Oxton fail to fight back at Durham

Oxton’s pressure resulted in a couple of short corners, but they were unable to force the equaliser.

A quick breakaway goal from Durham against the run of play restored the two goal advantage.

Oxton kept fighting and Fraser Eaton pulled a goal back.

Durham’s defence remained unbroken for the last 10 minutes and they were mightily relieved

when the full time whistle sounded. Meanwhile in North Division Two West, the second team defeated Wigan 5-1, with goals from Chris Lovell (two), Chris Williams, Mark Donnelly and Ian Johnston.

The third team were also in action against Wigan, defeating their seconds 3-2.

The fourth team played out a 0-0 draw against Chester, while goals from Phil Kirkby, Ashley Steel, Mark Anders and Jon Foster helped the fifth team to a 4-2 win at Chester.

There was also a 4-1 win for the sixes against Triton.

Elsewhere, the ladies first team fell to a 3-2 defeat at Timperley.

Despite goals from Emma Noakes and Liz Farren, Oxton failed to build on last weeks win against Chester.
