Kettering dug deep to score again just short of the hour, but three quick tries from Richard Bradshaw, Chris Young and Sean Woof – all converted by Mason – took Caldy clear against their gallant lower league opponents.
An amazing conversion from the touchline against a gale force wind from Wallasey prop Lewis was the highlight of the derby with Prenton.
The seemingly impossible kick was set up after full back Kirby opened the scoring following a forward drive in the seventh minute.
Johnson replied for Prenton just before the half-time whistle, but a penalty kick from Lewis in the 50th minute gave Wallasey the 10-5 victory.
In the Senior Vase, Hoylake found Scarborough too strong as they went out at the fifth round stage.
The Wirral side put up a bold show but were unable to register a score as Scarborough scored five tries, a conversion and a penalty to win 30-0. This Saturday, Birkenhead Park host the North One derby against leaders Caldy at the Upper Park, kick off 2.15pm.
