THERE is a dearth of local rugby union during the festive period with no league matches from North One down until after New Year's Day.
There will be two traditional Boxing Day games on Wirral.
At Hartsfield, a New Brighton Presidents XV will take on an Old Birkonian XV with the kick-off around 2.30pm.
Birkonian reform their side once yearly for this fixture, but are likely to include some guest players from Wirral.
At Holm Lane, the annual Brothers v Veterans match run by Parkonians is scheduled for a 27th successive year.
Mark Hillan will lead the Brothers and Chris Hall will be in charge of the Veterans.
There will be some guest players including several from Prenton and Joe Magowan, from Birkenhead Park, is set to be the referee.
The kick-off is scheduled for 1.30pm.
Parkonians have now rearranged their Thwaites Cheshire Plate game at Helsby, which could not be played by the due date in November.
