SCHOOLS in Birkenhead are being invited to compete 'virtually' against pupils from across the country in a new indoor rowing league.
Following the success of its inaugural year, the Concept2 Schools Indoor Rowing League has been launched for 2006-07 and entries are open to schools in Birkenhead.
The Concept2 Schools Indoor Rowing League is an all-inclusive national tournament in which boys and girls represent their schools in relay format.
Last year, the league attracted entries from 325 teams. Pupils can compete with other teams in their school and other teams across the country without even having to leave the room.
Results can be regularly uploaded online and compared with other teams up and down the land. The tournament consists of six rounds, three in the winter term and three in the spring.
John Wilson, of Concept2, said: "What's great about the Schools Indoor Rowing League though, is that it introduces kids to exercising on a regular basis in a fun and competitive environment."
* Entering the tournament is free and teams can join at any stage. For further information visit: www.concept2.co.uk/league
