Going gets tough for Wirral clubs

TIMES are tough for Wallasey and New Brighton.

Results have not been going their way and they find themselves propping up the rest of the Littlewoods Gaming Liverpool Competition Premier League.

Mark Wilkie's side are going through a transitional period and it showed on Saturday, with the home side's third straight win taking them into top spot. The Wirral side could not get to grips with the bowling of Chris Whelan (3-18), Graham Bolton (3-37) and Ashraf Nawab (3-21), slumping to 86. Pakistan's Fawad Alam unbeaten 42, including a winning six, provided a comfortable seven wicket victory. Fleetwood Hesketh go third after an easy eight wicket win at New Brighton. Paul Mullen took 4-18 as the home side were skittled for 69 (25.4) after losing the toss, Craig Prince (32 not out) and Neil Rimmer (20 not out) seeing the visitors home.
