Vauxhall Motors 2-0 Guiseley

VAUXHALL MOTORS put a dent in Guiseley's title hopes with a well-deserved 2-0 victory at Rivacre Park.

The best chances of the opening 45 minutes all fell to the home side. Chris Noone, Craig Mahon and Louis Barnes all hit efforts from 20 yards which narrowly missed the target.

The visitors, who picked up six bookings, were frustrated by Vauxhall not allowing them time on the ball, and only had an Andy Holdsworth long-range effort which went well over the crossbar to show for their first-half efforts.

Guiseley began the second half better but first James Walshaw and then Matty Wilson could not test Motors’ goalkeeper Zac Jones as their efforts flew off target.

The opening goal came for the hosts on 55 minutes. Michael Burns’s corner from the right was half cleared with the ball falling to Noone who sent a stunning half-volley into the top corner from 30 yards.

Motors had the ball in the net again on 71 minutes but Obi Anoruo's effort was ruled offside.

It wasn't long before Vauxhall did double their lead.

On 74 minutes, Lions goalkeeper Steven Drench came out but dropped a ball played into the area and Anoruo was on hand to poke it into the empty net.

The Motormen could have further extended their lead before the end but attempts from Tom Rutter and Anoruo went just wide.
