DESPITE not having played for four weeks, Wirral soon got into playing mood and had their try bonus point secured by the 26th minute.
It was as early as the second minute that the first try was scored after good approach work by Ryan Higginson and Ryan Stead, resulted in a neat chip over the defence by Joe Murray caught by full back James Annetts to run unopposed under
the posts.
In the next 25 minutes Wirral scored three further tries through, Chris Speed, Dan Harvey and Chris Hughes all tries being converted by captain, Craig Harvey. Manchester responded with a penalty by Matthews after hard work by their forwards to leave the score 28-3 at half-time.
In the second half Wirral continued to score at regular intervals through Joe Murray, James Annetts, Rob Pearl and Jack Yarker, all the tries being converted by Craig Harvey.
For their part Manchester strove to get their backs into the game but the renowned Wirral defence held out.
