Egan secures historic title win

MIKE EGAN has become the first north west-based fighter to win a WBC International title.

Mike, who lives in Llandudno, north Wales, makes the long drive twice a week to Wirral and once a week to Liverpool to train.

Egan secured his crown by defeating Danny Connaughton of Crawley over five rounds of full Thai rules (knees and elbows to the head).

His instructor, Karl Ryan, who is the Muay Thai coach at Nextgen Mma in Liverpool city centre has started a new class three days a week in Birkenhead.

Ryan said: “It’s a massive achievement for both me as a coach and Mike as a fighter.

“Mike is already a two times British & European Muay Thai champion.”
