Caldy give more to beat Dudley

CALDY earned a deserved bonus point with a last minute length of the field try from winger Josiah Dickinson after a Gavin Roberts hat-trick had proved the difference between the two sides.

Dudley did not have an ideal start to the game after their fly half Bown got injured early on in the game. Dudley were first on the scoresheet however with two penalties from the boot of replacement kicker Higgins who kicked two difficult chances. Caldy hit back with a penalty of their own before Gav Roberts scored his first try of the day after an excellent pass from Rich Vasey.

The rest of the half saw both sides trying to play rugby but struggling in the slippy conditions.

After the break, Caldy took control with two quick penalties from the boot of Rich Vasey.

Roberts scored his second on 60 minutes after cutting a brilliant line and going underneath the posts. Vasey converted. Roberts completed his hat-trick after a fine break and he powered over in the corner.

Vasey kicked a conversion from the touchline. Caldy looked like they were going to miss out until Roberts fed Dickinson who sprinted the length of the field just pipping the chasing winger and scored in the corner.

Vasey completed a fine team performance with another kick from the touchline.
