CALDY produced a sensational eight try performance to give themselves every opportunity to secure a play-off place, against a Luctonians side who refused to lie down.
A bumper crowd at Paton Field watched the home side score some excellent tries with Derek Salisbury and Ben Eaves both scoring braces and Gavin Roberts breaking a club try scoring record.
After an early penalty from Roberts, Luctonians kicked three successive penalties to take an ominous 9-3 lead before Caldy kick started into action. On 30 minutes, Soutar scored the first try of the day after Gavin Roberts cut through the Luctonians defence and fed Soutar in the corner.
Ben Eaves scored two quick tries after excellent work from Broxson and Bansor to take a 20-9 lead.
After the break, Salisbury powered over from close range before Norris hit back for Luctonians. Caldy then scored three successive tries through Gavin Roberts, Derek Salisbury and then Broxson scored after a remarkable full length run from Barnish.
Hodnett scored a good try in the corner for Luctonians before Dom Kohler topped off the day with a superb try following a great pass from Soutar. Caldy saw out the rest of the game for a well deserved victory.
Special mention for referee Jonathan Healy who let the game flow and allowed both sides to play rugby.
