JOHN PAUL WHEADON hit a hat-trick for Shore Villa as they beat Rock Ferry Social (S. Jones) 3-1 to reach the Final of the Veronica Conway Cup.
It was a great achievement for the club after reaching the final of the Wirral Premier Cup last weekend.
Queens Park regained their cup form to also reach the final with a Terry Cotgrave penalty enough for a 1-0 success over Heygarth FC.
In the Premier Division, Mikey Barry got two for New Ferry Wirral Hotel but Ryan Atherton (2), Tommy Baker, Paul Platt and Billy New, scored for Bidston Hotel as they triumphed 5-2.
Paul Devey, Carl Maughan and Michael Carroll were on the mark for Stirrup Sports & Social in a 3-1 win at Argyll (Lloyd Ithell) and Peter Hanlon got the only goal of the game for Brow against The Tower. A Philly Owen hat-trick helped Upton Villa maintain the pace in Division One; Dava Byrne also scoring in a 4-1 win at Prenton Dell (Danny Edwards).
Wellington stayed in touch at the top with two goals from Paul Ryan, as they beat FC Fender (Jamie Ferguson) 2-1.
Lancelyn Glenavon beat Comecon 6-3; Dean Corris (2), Steve Corris, James Beattie, Martin Reeve, Mike McGree on the mark, with Tom Mairs, Kieran O’Sullivan and Dave Curran replying. Saddle Club (Morgan, Hodson, Chesters, Spence) won 4-3 at Kings Arms (James Thomas 2, Gary Duckers) and Euro Wirral won 3-2 at Shaftsbury Youth A.
Birkenhead Youth B won 3-2 at current Division Two leaders Shaftsbury Youth B to close the gap at the top; Tom Povall (2) and Aaron Dillon securing the points.
Ben Holmes (2), Christian Lewis and Jamie Duggan scored for Churchwood as they beat Bebington FC (Chris Ballard, Martin Egan) and Bushell Athletic (Matt Purcell-Jones, Joe Griffiths, Neil Morgan, Keiran Latham) stayed in the mix with a 4-2 result over Ellesmere Port Town (Joe Hayes, Gary Handley). Rangers Breaks (Liam Roberts) woes continue as they went down 5-1 to FC Ridger; Colin Bingham (3), Ben Williams and Ian McCann the scorers.
In Division Three, Millcroft look strong at the top as doubles from Colin Singleton and Dave McKeown and one from Mark Fitzpatrick secured a 5-2 victory over Stanley Arms (Jim O’Toole, Mike Klein).
AFC CLaughton move 2nd thanks to goals from, Matty Boyd (2), Joe Lloyd, Liam Cotgrave and Si McCarthy, in a 5-0 win against Riley’s FC. Kyle Dickenson hit three for Ashville Old Boys (Tom Murray, Kalumbu Mwandwe) as they beat Armchair Alliance (Mark Doyle, Phil Gandy) 5-2.
