WITH the final month of the season approaching, thoughts at Birkenhead Park are turning to the 140th Anniversary tour to the Caribbean in July.
Park are on the look out for a guest hooker to finalise the touring party.
Tour organiser Phil Tarleton said: “We have got a really strong team together with most of the first team squad signed up for the tour but there is a vacancy for a hooker.
“If an established hooker from the area wishes to consider joining the trip I can guarantee them a tremendous rugby experience on and off the pitch.”
The tour party leaves the UK on July 10 and returns on July 21.
Matches are to be played against the national sides of Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago before the tour closes against Rainbow in South Trinidad.
Tarleton added: “It is 12 years since our last tour to the area and we are looking forward to renewing acquaintances with our old friends.
“There is only one player from the last trip going and it is great that our younger players are getting the chance to experience rugby in this part of the world.
“We know from experience that the matches and conditions will be tough hence the need for a recognised hooker.”
There was no senior rugby for Park last weekend but this week the 1st XV travel to Rossendale. The Park Wanderers have a home match against their main rivals for the University of Salford First Division title, Wilmslow, at the Upper Park. Kick-off in both games is 3pm
IF there are any hookers out there who fancy the trip then they should contact the Director of Rugby as soon as possible on 07815 136487.
