YOUR CHAMPIONS: Calday Grange Grammar School LeJog relay team nominated for our community awards

SCHOOL fundraisers who took part in an epic journey from John O’Groats to Lands End are in the running for our Your Champions community awards.

Calday Grange Grammar School was nominated after students, teachers, former pupils and parents raised more than £130,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital through the LeJog relay run in July.

The school launched the fundraising appeal for the hospital’s Imagine Appeal after one of its pupils, Matthew Cullen, was treated there for leukaemia.

Parents and school supporters who nominated the runners called their efforts “inspirational” and said the school fully deserved an award.

The deadline for nominations for Your Champions, which is being held in association with Scottish Power, has now closed.

A panel of judges will decide the winners and our heroes and heroines will be honoured at a presentation ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Chester on Friday, November 18.
