Hilbre

Hilbre High School Humanities College in West Kirby is an 11 – 18 co-educational, all ability school which has recently benefited from a multi-million pound rebuilding programme through Wirral’s Private Finance Initiative project.

State of the art facilities including significant investment in technology offer both students and staff a modern, well equipped and purposeful working environment, fit for education in the 21st century.

Jan Levenson, Headteacher writes “It is a real honour and privilege to be the Headteacher of this forward thinking, successful and popular school. At Hilbre we pride ourselves on the pursuit of excellence – in our teaching, our pastoral care, the quality of our relationships with all stakeholders and the provision of resources and facilities which meet the needs of all learners, irrespective of ability.”

Hilbre’s Humanities College status has added an international dimension to the School’s development with a growing portfolio of overseas links. This is having a major impact upon the school’s aim to develop “global citizens of the 21st century” and students demonstrate an increasing awareness of and sensitivity to the world in which we live.

Examination results at Hilbre have increased dramatically over the past ten years with the percentage of students achieving five or more top GCSE grades more than doubling to almost 60% in 2007, the best results in the School’s history. Miss Levenson told us “The results we achieve at Hilbre are indicative of the tremendous commitment, hard work and dedication displayed by both students and staff on a daily basis. Teamwork and co-operation are features which are clearly evident in all relationships around school”.

Hilbre’s recent success in achieving the Investors in People Champion status is evidence of exemplary Human Resource practice, ensuring that Hilbre’s pupils benefit from an extremely well qualified, highly trained and stable workforce. “We value and appreciate the role played by our staff in ensuring that standards continue to improve. We attract, recruit and retain excellent personnel who give of their best, both in and outside of the classroom. Opportunities abound at Hilbre and we strive to inspire everyone, students and adults alike, to achieve their true potential”.
