Wirral Keep Fit Association is still healthy after 30 years
WIRRAL Keep Fit Association celebrated its 30th anniversary last week after raising £40,000 for charity to date.
The KFA, which formed in 1978, has around 60 members who gathered together on November 22 to celebrate the association’s birthday.
The fitness enthusiasts went to the Grosvenor Ballroom, Liscard, and took part in dance and aerobic classes, enjoyed a buffet, a raffle and presented £2,000 to Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.
Over the years they have raised thousands of pounds for various local and national charities through a mixture of jumble sales, coffee mornings, quiz nights and participation in the Wirral Coastal Walk.
As well as helping many in need, KFA members also enjoy an active lifestyle and organise a variety of social activities.
Jan Morris, of Bromborough, who has been member for 20 years, said: “KFA started before there were many gyms and health clubs.
“It provides a social forum for people as well as promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
“We all have lots of fun and some lifelong friendships have been made as a result of the group.”
