Award for Wirral Egg Run team

THE Wirral Egg Run Team put aside their differences this weekend and came together to present a £25,000 cheque to the Jelly Bean Kids’ Appeal.

Despite disputes over new leadership, the 2008 Egg Run Team’s good work could not be denied.

After months of voluntary work and organisation, a record-smashing 7,000 bikers flooded Wirral on Sunday, March 16, raising more money and delivering more eggs to poorly children than ever before.

As a result, Wirral News felt it was only right to present them all with a Pride of Wirral award.

Ian Kendrick, chairman of the 2008 run, said: “It is a huge honour for all of the team to receive this award from the Wirral News Group.

“While the award goes to the team at the centre of the event, there are many hundreds of people who, like us, give their time freely to support the Run.”

Debbie Green, of The Jellybean Kids’ Appeal, said: “This group of outstanding people has worked tirelessly to provide a gold standard spectacular event for Wirral - they are a credit to our community.”
