WIRRAL CHEFS SHINE: Garrett Forsey brings the curtain down on another year of competition at Garrett’s in Bebington

GARRETT Forsey brought the curtain down on another year of Wirral Chefs Shine last week.

Our sixth finalist for 2010 welcomed diners to his Garrett’s Restaurant in Bebington with a surprise glass of tangy apple and cinnamon juice, which included a drop of Bacardi for those who weren’t driving.

Irishman Garrett, 39, served up a generous portion of goat’s cheese mousse as a starter, with pickled beetroot and courgette fritters.

His main course was a roasted lamb rump served with dauphinoise potatoes, pea puree and lamb jus.

All finalists this year had to use chocolate somewhere in their menu and Garrett didn’t disappoint with a bittersweet chocolate tart with lemon curd cream.

Raspberries, blackberries and red currants completed the dish.

There was particular praise from the tables for Garrett’s lamb, which was cooked to the diner’s taste, and for his chocolate tart.

Shirley Gray, of Wallasey, was dining with her husband Mike.

Mrs Gray said: “The food was excellent and the lamb was to die for.

“It was absolutely delicious and it just fell apart.

“The dessert was nice and it wasn’t too chocolatey, it was just right.

“There was nothing we could fault.”
