Clinton recovering well from clot

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is speaking to staff and reviewing paperwork as she continues to recover from a blood clot in her head, the State Department has said.

Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Mrs Clinton has been "quite active" on the phone with aides but doctors will continue to monitor her progress.

Mrs Clinton was admitted to a hospital in New York last Sunday and is being treated with blood thinners to dissolve a clot in a vein behind her right ear.

Doctors found the clot during a follow-up exam stemming from concussion she suffered in early December.

Mrs Clinton's doctors say there was no neurological damage and she is expected to make a full recovery.
