Michael Schumacher has been injured in a skiing accident in the Alps, according to a report in France.
Radio broadcaster Europe 1 reported that the seven-time Formula One world champion suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital.
The 44-year-old German retired from F1 for the final time in 2012 after a three-season comeback with Mercedes.
The director of the Meribel resort where Schumacher was skiing reportedly said his injury was "not very serious".
Gernignon Christophe Lecomte was quoted by Radio Monte Carlo Sport as saying the former racing driver hit his head against a rock in the accident which happened at 11.07am local time. Schumacher had been wearing a helmet.
Lecomte said on rmcsport.bfmtv.com: "Help responded quickly, at 1115. He was airlifted and taken to hospital in Moutiers. He was shocked, a little shaken but conscious.
"It may be a head injury but it is not very serious."
