FOOTBALLER Raheem Sterling denied assaulting a woman at a court hearing this morning.
The 18-year-old Liverpool winger was given permission not to attend the hearing at Liverpool Magistrates Court and a not guilty plea was entered in his absence.
The alleged incident happened in Toxteth, Merseyside on November 2 last year.
Police said a 27-year-old woman, who is known to Sterling, suffered "slight" facial injuries. The case was fixed for trial, which will begin on May 20.
