A WOMAN’S body was found behind a row of shops yesterday.
Police were called to Pasture Road in Moreton at 8.45am after a member of the public raised the alarm.
Oakenholt Road, which is at the rear of the shops, was taped off for several hours while forensic officers examined the scene and removed the woman’s body.
Police said her death was not being treated as suspicious.
The woman is believed to be in her 50s but has not been formally identified.
A post-mortem will place to establish how she died.
A man who works nearby, who asked not to be named, said: “Everyone has been talking about it but all we know is that they found a woman dead there.
“You couldn’t get up Oakenholt Road this morning and there were police guarding the road.”
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “Officers were called to Pasture Road at about 8.45am following a call from a member of the public who had reported the discovery of a woman's body at the rear of the shops.
“At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious. The deceased is believed to be in her 50s and as yet the body has not been formally identified.”
