Wirral student one step away from Open Mic UK national final

A WIRRAL student is just one step away from reaching the final of a national singing competition.

Holly Wright, 20 from Birkenhead, has made it to the regional final of Open Mic UK - the biggest singing competition in the country with nearly 10,000 acts.

An English student at Coventry University, Holly was one of four from the area to make it to the regional final in Leeds on November 24.

She said: “The feeling of being up on stage is just indescribable. For those three minutes in front of the judges I feel like everything in life is perfect. I really can’t think of anything I would rather do.”

Holly sang ‘Too Close’ by Alex Care in her area final. She plans to sing ‘Pyramids’ by singer-songerwriter Frank Ocean in Leeds.
