Wallasey family’s search as dog flees during WIrral fireworks

A FAMILY pet bolted from a caravan park during a fireworks display.

Dougal, an eight-year-old male springer spaniel with a liver and white body, a brown head and a dock tail, ran from his owner on Friday night.

Marc Cass, 51, of Wallasey, was standing on the decking outside a caravan at Thurstaston static caravan park, Station Road, watching the fireworks with his wife Alison.

As the fireworks started to explode, Dougal bolted under a neighbouring caravan. But when Marc and Alison went to retrieve him, he was gone.

Alison said: “We spend every weekend at the caravan park and have never had any trouble with Dougal running off.

“Usually if he hears fireworks he cowers a little bit but this time he just ran off.

“When we went after him he was nowhere to be seen.

“He didn’t have a collar on and he isn’t chipped.

“He’s a beautiful, stocky dog and he must have been absolutely terrified when he ran off.”
