OFFICERS are going door-to -door as they hunt for the culprits responsible for a suspected arson attack in Wallasey.
Police want people to come forward if they have any information about the fire at the disused Kohler Daryl factory on Alfred Road last Friday.
A joint investigation is underway between the police and the Mersey Fire & Rescue Service.
Emergency services were called to the blaze, which raged through the former show fittings factory, at around 3.50am.
Significant damage was caused to the premises, but no one was injured. The fire is thought to have started between 1am and 4am.
Residents were told to keep their windows shut because of asbestos roof tiles.
Five fire engines were on the scene and a further two were called before the fire was put out.
CCTV is being sought from the local area.
DC Michael Fletcher of Merseyside Police said: "This was a reckless and dangerous act that has caused significant and costly damage.
"We’re appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact us so we can take action against those responsible and put them before the courts."
