OFFICIALS from Clatterbridge just had to visit Weatherhead High School, in Wallasey, to thank their performing arts department for their massive £1,000 donation to The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
One of our fantastic volunteers, Jade Franks, who is also a student at Weatherhead, was involved in the event, she told us why she got involved.
“I have been a volunteer at The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity for the last year and was overjoyed when I found out that my school had chosen to support them too. The charity is very close to the hearts of both the staff and students and we wanted to thank everyone who works there for the amazing support and care our loved ones have received at the centre.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to support the charity than show- casing the wide variety of talents of students. The money we raised came from two performing arts events. The first one was a Performing Arts Showcase in October which my Drama A-level class and I thoroughly enjoyed performing in.The second talent event was Superstars – our notorious student talent competition. It runs over the last two weeks in December. It gives students from Years 7 – 13 an opportunity to show off their talents, whatever they may be. I helped sell the tickets to all staff and students – the final week ended up a sell-out!”
Sharon Henderson, Head of Performing Arts at Weatherhead also said: “I am delighted and thrilled to be supporting such a worthwhile cause close to all our hearts. I am immensely proud of all our students’ involvement”.
