A HOMELESS football team from Wirral has kicked off the season with a set of new kits.
Wirral Ark homeless football team were delighted with their new attire thanks to Smith and Sons estate agents, in Birkenhead.
The season is now under way for the team to take part in division one of the Liverpool Homeless Football League.
Steve Walsh, support worker at the Ark charity, who helps manage the team, said: “The new kits have given our guys a great boost and we’ve had a confident start to the season.
“Street football gives our service users not only the chance to exercise regularly, but to be part of a team and learn how to work with and support each other.
“Being part of the league goes far beyond football for many of the team who take part, helping to develop key social skills and improve confidence.”
The team of 10 players compete once a month and train each week.
Steve added: “We were top of the league last year and at the moment are in third position but we’re already improving and are going for the top spot again.”
