WIRRAL Council’s Invigor8 health and fitness scheme is celebrating a promising start to the New Year with 1,225 new members recruited – the highest number in three years.
The success of the 2014 New Year campaign by the Council’s marketing and sports’ membership teams has resulted in a 32 per cent rise in members so far this year.
The New Year campaigns were made up of two separate promotions; a joining (and rejoining) offer of £20.14 for 12 months, and a Perfect Fit scheme. Combined, they achieved the largest number of members recruited during a New Year promotion period, which is always a crucial time for health and fitness clubs.
Cllr Chris Meaden, Wirral’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “Not only is this good news in terms of more people working on their health and fitness, more members generate income, which can be spent on the service, making our facilities more sustainable for the future.”
Further to the New Year campaigns, the Council recently launched two new initiatives for Invigor8 members; a loyalty scheme to incentivise people to retain and use their memberships – offering a range of loyalty rewards from local businesses – and a new mobile ‘app’ giving up to date information about fitness and workout sessions. Other promotions have specifically targeted young people, and more are planned throughout the year.
Invigor8 offers fitness sessions, swims and workshops throughout the borough at a variety of times of day. This is a great time to join! For further details about Invigor8, visit: www.wirral.gov.uk
