WIRRAL libraries were among those who celebrated National Libraries Day on Saturday, February 8.
The day rounded off a week of celebrations in schools, colleges, universities, workplaces and public libraries across the UK.
At Wallasey Central Library local poet Clare Kirwan hosted a poetry reading. Meanwhile, staff at Eastham Library encouraged visitors to have a ‘blind date’ with a book, when they wrapped up their works of fiction for people to pick at random.
Wirral’s Principal Librarian Julie Mann said: “Here on Wirral, our library staff created eye-catching displays, organised special extra events such as poetry readings and story times, and generally spread the word about the magic of libraries.”
