KINDHEARTED children from a Wirral school raised money for a specialist unit dedicated to looking after newborn babies.
Staff and pupils of Irby Primary School raised £200 from holding a sponsored Christmas jumper day.
The school council decided their Christmas appeal should support Arrowe Park Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit.
Michelle Houghton, the school’s charity co-ordinator, said: “Irby Primary School Council is made up from two children in each class. They are dedicated to school life and supporting local charities.
“The children decided they wanted to support a local charity for Christmas, and subsequently chose Arrowe Park Hospital Special Care Baby Unit.
“They asked staff and children to wear a Christmas jumper for the day and donate £1 to the charity.
“In total they raised £200 which is a fantastic amount for a small school.”
