A NEW and quicker way to get prescriptions will soon be launched in Wirral.
This latest NHS scheme cuts down the repeat prescription process, providing an easier and quicker service for patients.
All Wirral GP practices will use an online system called NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) to send prescriptions electronically direct to a chosen pharmacy.
This will cut out trips to the surgery to collect repeat prescriptions, and avoid waiting time at the chemist by preparing medicine in advance.
Wirral pharmacies are already connected to the new service, and they are now working with surgeries to launch it.
Patients will be able to choose which pharmacy they want to use.
Andrew Weinronk, chairman of Wirral Local Pharmaceutical Committee, said: “The NHS Electronic Prescription Service is a reliable, secure and confidential system that will make life much easier for some patients and carers, so we’re very excited to see it being made available across Wirral next year.
“Talk to your local pharmacist now to see if the service might be right for you, and to find out how to sign up.”
