EARLIER this year I held a competition for the children of one of the local primary schools, Holy Trinity Pre-School and Primary School in Hoylake to design my Christmas card.
I received a huge amount of entries and it was tough choosing a winner. Holy Trinity certainly have some talented artists in their midst.
In the end, Jennifer Graley from Year 6 with her innovative 3D singing snowmen design was the overall winner, but so tough was the competition, I had to have four runners-up too and they were: Eve Noble from Year 1, Cai Crompton from Year 4, Beth England from Year 3 and Megan Joseph from pre-school, whose designs appear on the back of the card.
I look forward to distributing this card to government ministers and leaders around the world, including David Cameron and Barack Obama, so this card will get to adorn some very famous homes. A big thank-you to the school and pupils for taking part.
On Friday night the Hoylake and West Kirby Abbeyfield Society celebrated their 50th Anniversary Carol Concert at St Andrew’s Church.
The West Kirby Light Opera Society sang and Father Peter Walsh performed the address. It was a wonderful occasion and Charles, the brother of the founder Richard Carr-Gomm, read the Abbeyfield Prayer.
If ever there was a life story to read, or even just search quickly on Google, it is that of Richard Carr-Gomm.
