THERE are just a few days to go until the closing date for nominations for this year’s Your Champions.
We have already heard some great stories about teams, groups and individuals doing incredible work in their communities but we still want to hear from as many people as possible before the judges begin their deliberations.
We are working with Scottish Power Foundation once again this year to reward those who are making a difference.
Last year, Neston’s Northern Lights charity took the overall Team of the Year title at the glittering ceremony in Chester’s Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The volunteer-run organisation was formed more than 25 years ago and gives children with life-threatening illnesses the chance to meet Father Christmas at a luxury.
Jamie McLoughlin, communities editor at Wirral News, said: “It was great to see a team from Wirral take one of the overall prizes at last year’s Your Champions and hopefully somebody in the borough can do the same this year. However, you’ll have to be quick if you haven’t nominated anyone yet. You only have until Friday to get your nomination in. Fortunately, the online form we have introduced this year makes it easy – and quick – to tell us about your particular champions.”
Ann Loughrey, head of CSR at Scottish Power, said: “We welcome nominations from individuals and groups who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and are really making a difference. This could be helping a neighbour, improving the environment or even an act of bravery.”
